The Wait.

By Moneer Elmasseek

This is a piece I wrote about the feeling of entering a bad episode of mental health. As somebody on the autistic spectrum I can sometimes sense when I am going to sink into an episode of Anxiety so I thought I would put some of my thoughts to paper.

You can feel what its about to happen.

The all too familier feeling of sleeping slowly.

The world becomes louder.

Sleep becomes a labour.

Breathing becomes a skill to learn.

So you sit, not defeated, merely ready.

Waiting for the tide to come in.

If you feel yourself going into a mental healh crisis, you are not alone. Here are some numbers that might help if you’re in the UK:

The Samaritans – 116123

Sos silence of suicide – 0300 1020 505
